FEDERAL BLOCKADE OF TEXAS! TSA THREATENS TO SHUT DOWN FLIGHTS FROM THE LOAN STAR STATE

The citizens of Texas are concerned about health, privacy and legal search issues upset about invasive screening techniques at the airport, the Lone Star State has passed legislation out of the state house May 24th and is pending in the Senate. The legislature is working in the interest of the citizens to protect them from increasing intrusive "security" procedures.  The bill would make a TSA put-downs that involves touching “the anus, sexual organ, buttocks, or breast of another person including through the clothing” a misdemeanor, allowing Texas law enforcement to arrest TSA officials and charge them with sexual harassment. It would have meant that TSA staff could be fined $4,000 and spend up to a year in jail for doing their "jobs" of molesting prospective fliers.

The (TSA) Transportation Security Administration was not happy when the bill was passed in the Texas House of Representatives, blogging in response that Texas is barred by the U.S. Constitution from regulating the federal government. 

DHS-TSA-DOJ not happy has Threatened Financial Terrorism 

TSA On Tuesday May 24th, the bill was set to be voted on in the Senate on May 25th. This called for more of a response than a simple blog post. Federal government employees  descended on the Capitol to hand out a letter (embedded below) from the Texas U.S. Attorney letting senators know that if they passed the bill, the TSA would probably have to cancel all flights out of Texas.  With TSA already in train stations, bus terminals and High School Proms this is very serious. 

TSA IS Now Threatening NO Fly ZONE over Texas 

This is collective punishment.  A threat to blockade the state raised serious concerns about the right to travel being traded for "security", the idea of blockading airports and trapping people in Texas was scary enough to get legislators to reconsider their support for the scanning/pat-downs  House bill HB-1937 sponsored by Republican Dan Patrick, in the Senate, withdrew it when he realized he would not have the votes he needed to pass it.   “There was a time in this state, there was a time in our history, where we stood up to the federal government and we did not cower to rules and policies that invaded the privacy of Texans,” he said with regret, reports the Texas Tribune.  Contact information for Texas Senate members is here.

DOJ TSA Threatening to Shut Down Texas airports  

A letter from U.S. attorney John Murphy said Texas could not pass a statute that conflicts with federal law. If it had, the TSA would have sought an emergency stay and until that had been granted, would have had to shut down Texas airports as it “could not ensure the safety of passengers and crew.”   This also raises questions if TSA can stop flights within Texas.

“Naturally, Texans didn’t take to well to being threatened in that manner,” said Rep. David Simpson, the author of the bill, in a written statement. They may not like it, but it worked.  I'm sure many Texans are disappointed that the bill scheduled for unanimous passage was pulled at the last minute.

Texas Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst working for Gov. Rick Perry Killed TSA Bill

Sadly, Rick Perry was instrumental in working with the federal government to sabotage the will of the people a bill that would have protected travelers rights from TSA misbehavior.   Texas was Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, a former CIA agent worked behind the the curtain to scuttle Texas HB-1937 working as a front man for DOJ and the Obama administration. Rick Perry and Dewhurst appears to be working as a lobbyist for Washington DC, raises questions about the federal government working directly to influence state law and opposing the will of the people.

Other states have Joined Texas to Protect Citizens

Rep. Carl Wimmer, R-Herriman has introduced a bill into the Utah House of Representatives that would ensure TSA agents would have to abide by the same Fourth Amendment limits that police do when performing searches on Americans.
