As originally reported on 20 July 2010 in the El Paso Times conventional metal detectors were blocked and passengers were forced into new “optional” naked body scanners.[1]  In true 1984 Orwell memory hole style, the story has been pulled, the story was also reported by www.InfoWars.com [2].  This is just the beginning of implementing TSA/DHS long term plans to phase out the metal detectors and FORCE the traveling public into DNA scrabbling electronic strip search boxes, as reported by TSA to the Chicago Tribune earlier this year.

Some European Countries have sad NO to irradiating its citizens.

The Europeans are still wisely debating the health risks and privacy concerns over the questionable security benefits.  And many law suits are still pending regarding xxx-rays and child pornography implications [4].  Europeans perhaps can still think not having the benefits of fluoridated water, forced upon them. [3] The mass use of high energy 40,000-125,000 Vp hard gamma/x-rays to image humans is unprecedented. Many radiation experts and Doctors such as Dr. David Brenner, head of the center for radiological research at Columbia University in New York, have criticized government studies claiming the scanners are not a health risk. Brenner said children and passengers with genetic mutations are most at risk because they are less able to repair X-ray damage to their cells. “The population risk has the potential to be significant“, we agree.  This equipment posses a risk to all of US, and is a significant risk to children and expecting mothers. 

According to TSA “Backscatter X-ray technology uses X-rays that penetrate clothing, but not skin, to create an image.” [5]   This is just false!  Here is why.

A simple inspection of public back-scatter image (right) shows leg bone shadows. The x-rays are being absorbed by your bones and appear dark.

The AS&E unit operates at 125,000 Vp, and the Rapiscan at 50,000 Vp with 1.5 mm and 1 mm, respectively, of aluminum filtration. The first is equivalent to CT-scan kilovoltage, the second above that of mammography or dental. AS&E quotes the mean x-ray energy at 60 keV, which is about right for the 125 kVp. At 60 keV, only 0.3% of the beam’s energy is deposited in the first 1 mm of tissue, and a bit over half the energy is deposited by 25 cm (10”) of depth. For a typical body thickness, about 2% of the energy leaves the body on the side opposite the beam’s entrance point. For the Rapiscan, with average beam energy of 30 keV, 1.4% of the energy is deposited in the first mm, and half of the energy in the first 5 cm—well beyond the skin.

The public is part of a unprecedented massive radiation experiment !

Sorry about the numbers, this equipment operates like a high energy physics experiment and you’re the TARGET.  The light/gamma rays used to "illuminate" you is so powerful that about 2% of the x-rays exit the other side of your body.  Like holding a bright flash light to your hand and seeing a dim glow on the other side.  Unlike the low power flash light the backscatter x-ray energy is ionizing meaning chemical bonds and DNA is being broken as it passes though you.  Like being hit with a high velocity shotgun where 3/4 the BB's don't exit. This energy tears things up on a chemical bond level, leaving a trail of ravaged proteins and DNA.  The DNA if not correctly repaired means dead cells or cancer down the road.  This is madness putting the traveling public at risk to maybe catch a “terrorist”.  Your chances of dying from a terrorist attack is that of winning the lottery or being hit by lightning, small indeed.
